BENEFITS OF THE OVERLAND TORQUE TUNE
OTT offers multiple throttle profiles to suit your driving style. Whether you prefer a quicker, more responsive gas pedal, a feel similar to stock, or a reduced response for rock crawling or advanced off-roading, we have you covered.
Please note that these changes to throttle response do not affect horsepower or torque output—only the throttle profiles are adjusted for a more tailored driving experience.
The OTT calibrations are designed to enhance your vehicle’s performance, optimizing both horsepower and torque without compromising engine reliability. Specific gains in horsepower and torque depend on the vehicle platform, modifications, and the type of tune applied (e.g., stock vs. modified vehicle).
The goal of the OTT calibration is to provide the broadest torque curve, improving drivability, throttle response, and towing capabilities. OTT rigorously tests its calibrations to validate performance metrics using a dynamometer, ensuring that the tune delivers measurable improvements in both torque and horsepower.
OTT can specifically remap the ECT, Tow/Haul, and Sport modes in your Toyota vehicle to provide a "dual map" function. This allows for separate throttle and transmission mapping for each of these secondary drive modes, giving you more control over your vehicle’s performance in different driving conditions. Whether you need more responsiveness for sport driving, smoother performance for towing, or optimized throttle response for daily driving, OTT can tailor each mode to suit your needs.
We map the adjustable cam system for the best combination of low and mid range torque and power, while providing good fuel economy and maintaining emissions at stock levels.
OTT customizes upshift and downshift points, as well as calibrate the torque converter's locking and unlocking behavior to suit the client's specific needs.
The shift points are carefully matched to place the next upshift gear in the optimal location for the torque curve, ensuring smoother and more efficient performance.
This level of customization allows for improved drivability, better power delivery, and enhanced vehicle responsiveness across all driving conditions.
Whether you're towing, off-roading, or daily driving, OTT tailors the transmission behavior to maximize the performance of your vehicle.
After re-gearing, your vehicle's top speed may be limited by the ECU due to the change in the differential gear ratio.
For example, on a 3rd Gen Tacoma:
- With 4.88 gears, the top speed will be limited to 92 mph.
- With 5.29 gears, the top speed will be limited to 82 mph.
We can adjust parameters within the ECU to align with the stock settings.
All OTT calibrations retain full functionality of Toyota’s adaptive ignition control strategy, which leverages your vehicle’s ECU to automatically adjust ignition timing based on the quality of fuel being used.
The ECU has the ability to advance or retard ignition timing as needed, utilizing its onboard knock control and advance strategy to optimize engine performance depending on the octane rating of the fuel.
This means you can safely run 87-93 octane fuel and switch between fuel grades without the need to adjust your tune. The ECU will continuously monitor the fuel quality and make real-time adjustments to ensure optimal timing for performance and engine protection, retaining the factory knock control strategy.
With OTT’s Octane Learning, you can enjoy the convenience of using different fuel grades while maintaining safe and reliable operation, all without the hassle of needing to recalibrate or adjust your tune each time you change fuels.
AGM batteries require a higher charging voltage than what the stock alternator provides, as it is set for lead-acid batteries and only delivers around 13.8V. We can adjust the charging voltage to accommodate AGM batteries for optimal performance!
